gTechniq C4?

Hi all. I want to restore some faded black trim. The trim looks black when wet but not so black when dry. Carpro and gTechniq have competing solutions for this problem; DLux and C4 respectively. I`m leaning more toward C4 because it`s supposed to be permanent (at least 2 years) coating. Does anyone have some experience C4 durability they would like to share? Both these products are up there in price.

I have used both products and I do like them both.

I had some issues with the C4 at first, it poured about 15 minutes after I applied it and the rain left water spots on some of the plastic, so it needed to be re-treated. That was my only issue with it. So, far it`s holding up great.

The CarPro Dlux offers the same look that the C4 does and needs to completely cure for 24 hours without getting wet. But looks great and is very easy to apply.

Either product I don`t think you can go wrong.

I have only used CarPro Dlux and I will add this.

C4 is only for plastic trim from my understanding. So if you have rubber molding to do as well you will need a separate product. I believe the C4 is more "permanent" than Dlux because of the 2 year durability rating.

Dlux is able to be used on plastic trim, rubber, & metal. So to me Dlux has a little bit of an advantage over C4 just because it can be used on multiple surfaces. I have also used it successfully on headlight lenses. It has a nice darkening effect and so far is holding up well for me. Below is a link to my current review and durability testing.

I have C4 on my wiper cowl for over a year and still looks good. Car is outside 24/7.

While I have mostly moved on to other products for the vehicle in that thread, I have had great success with C4 on my 2010 Challenger (the exception being the front spoiler). A few months ago I bought another vial and will be re-applying it to that car. It was hard to obtain for a while and I had been using Wolfgang ETS in the meantime. ....what a disappointment that was. With the ETS the longevity is there but man, it attracts dust like you wouldn`t believe. ....even after 3 washes. I`m either doing something wrong or it`s just the way it is with that product.

I have some rubber trim around my Tahoe`s windows (back) that is in terrible shape. Very weather beaten ..... What can I use to clean all the crap off before I use a good protector ?????

Try Klasse cleaner.
