I have had the pleasure of using both of these European marketed products and I must say that they are both fantastic offerings. However, one product stands out from the other. Check out this video review/comparison to see how they perform.

    Thanks for watching!

Good stuff, Garry; I too am going to be very curious to see how the FG400 stacks up against M101. For now, though, looks like the pimp hand is still strong! :chuckle:

Nice review, Garry! I have never tested the #101 but then Meguiars is so damn expensive in Sweden; a quart of #105 is $89,92.

    Menzerna Fast gloss is $45,99.

I can`t wait for the FG400 and this will, according to Menzerna, cut faster and finish of better then FG500.

    Thanks guys!

I do think there is definitely some gloss to be desired from Menzerna... FG500 did cut nicely, but if FG400 is all its hyped up to be Im excited to get a hold of some!

Menzerna products are definitely some of the best in the business, but if I had to choose FG500 or M101, it would be m101 hands down.

Nice review Gary. If FG500 says for rotary use, does M101 say for rotary use also? Do you think that using a rotary with FG500 would eliminate the haze?

Thanks for the comparison video Garry. I`m with you on the da vs a rotary but with using a da in the heads up demo, both products were on a level playing field. I very rarely use my m101 uncut due mostly to the lack of availability and higher price. I usually cut it with m105 or d300 producing great results.

I`m not sure and I don`t care enough to do another video on this topic via rotary.

Most people use d/a`s these days... This is a video for "most" people... I do my videos for "most" people... as stated in the video.

I also do not know if the FG500 was designed specifically for rotary use as the bottle I have is written in German. I was just going by what I do know about their US line. I use all of the US line via d/a with spectacular results.

I agree that M101 is awesome. I used it for the first time last night and was really surprised how glossy it left the paint. I really should have bought a gallon of the stuff when I had the chance.

Interesting video Garry, but after watching it, I have to ask myself what was the point?

Quite obviously one pass with either product didn’t produce much of a result. Sure there was some added gloss but the majority of the defects were still there in both sections. I would have thought a more useful video re the comparison of two compounds would be to show the results after all the defects were removed. In my opinion the true test of any compound is how many passes are required to remove the defects.

Considering the result you have shown, I still wonder how you came to the conclusion that M101 “finishes better and cuts more as well” than the Menz product.

I do happen to agree with you about dusting. Why so many people are hung up about dusting and are looking for a dust free compound is something I don’t really understand. A vehicle that is being compounded is going to go through various wash steps before getting anywhere near the LSP stage, so why all the concern when the dust is removed by the intermediate wash steps.

Re your comment about M101 and VOC compliance. Justin Rose from Meguiars has stated on multiple occasions that M101 is VOC compliant so I think you can conclude that there are other reasons (whatever they are) why Meguiars have decided not to make the product available in the US.

Just a suggestion, but if you are inclined to make another similar video why not compare M101, M105 and FG500, but take the test to at least the completion of the compounding stage. Adding M105 to the mix would surely satisfy your criteria of "most people".

What he said was that FG500 is not VOC compliant. We`re all well aware that M101 is VOC compliant -- it even says so right on the label (see my previous post).

Apart from FG500, that`s already been done:

Thanks for linking the other video. From that video M101 does appear to be very good.

Garry is obviously getting better at doing these videos as I believe the second video gives us a better appreciation of what can be achieved, because of the larger areas, and the realistic defects which needed to be removed.

I’d still suggest a video that takes all the products to a finished state (compounding only) as I don’t believe that a set number of passes is a true or realistic test. I don’t particularly care if they are all done using MF pads or with foam pads, but again from a consistency point of view it should probably be one or the other or two different sets of videos. To view the sort of videos that I think provide invaluable feedback I suggest looking at the various videos made by Dave KG over on Detailing World.
