I had a customer come in with spilled cod in the backseat. 20mins later at 400psi the smell remained. I know it is down into the foam. This isn`t the first time I have come across this and was wondering what tips and tricks you guys use to fix this problem. This is a good customer and I want to get the smell out for him.

    Thanks,

    Ryan

Remove the seat covers, inject a liquid, odour counteractant or disinfectant deep into the upholstery foam. (it comes with two, re-usable needles)- TOTL

Machine extract the the foam and replace covers

Continuously dump copious amounts of Enzyme based cleaner on the seat or do what TOGWT mentioned. Good luck.

It`s actually on the floor, spilled it two days ago and brought it in this morning. I told him I would probably need to pull the carpet but was hoping to avoid it.

    Thanks for the help.

Pull the side sill plate and inspect the backing material of the carpet. Many times it`s rubber which means that spills won`t penetrate through the carpet and into the insulation. If so, no real need to remove the carpet.

I would agree that a Bio-Enzyme Cleaner is a great way to approach this. I have used Detail King`s Bio-Zyme Enzyme cleaner many times, especially on carpets with bad odors. It cleans well, and eliminates odors even better.

I use their carpet shampoo and love it-how does this compare? Would it be supplemental or replacement?

No need to pull sills, they break easy. Just bend a piece by gas pedal or passenger side. Most are rubber now a days.

Smell for the area. Extract a few times. Then saturate with enzyme deodorizer or other proven product. Dwell time might be needed, especially with bacteria product. Extract again.
