Waffle Weave Towels

I am using 2 sizes of Waffle Weave Towels to dry my just washed car.

It seems to me that both sizes of towels donâ€™t absorb as much as they

used to when new. I remember how much they absorbed just after I

started using them.

They are probably 6 years old and I wash my car every weekend,

wash & dry the towels. I use Micro-Restore soap specifically for micro

fiber towels.

They hardly seem to absorb the water at all.

My question: do they loose their absorbency over time?

In my experience, all microfiber will eventually lose their ability to soak in and retain water. 6 years is a heck of a long run for a relatively affordable tool.

Six years from one set of towels is unheard of, it`s safe to say you got your money`s worth from them.

I have some that are older. I don`t use them on the cars any more though.

4AudiQ- Yeah, mine always quit working well after a while too, though sometimes washing them in *VERY* hot water with something like Dawn, and doing a zillion hot rinses, can help a little.

Which towels are they and how do you wash them? Ever buffed off sealant or wax with them?

I had some WW`s that quit absorbing very well, but I did a round in the wash with Micro Restore and it seemed to really help clean out whatever had built up in there. The stuff doesn`t seem to get towels as "clean" looking as regular detergent, but it does seem to release whatever crap gets stuck in them.

Car looks great! As the others said, 6 years is a heck of a run for drying towels used that frequently, especially if you use any sort of detail spray or spray wax in the drying process. If you are really wanting to keep using those towels, I`ve had some success spraying APC into the towel, putting them in on the hottest water setting, and using the 30 minute pre-soak option with second rinse turned on.
