Clay magic bar = hard ?

I have used meguiars white clay available in store, as well as the mothers clay available in stores.

I recently used meg`s blue professional clay.



I purchased clay magic`s blue clay bar last year and it was stored in my house, climate 68-72*

I opened it up, cut 1/3 off and used it to clay 2 vehicles on thursday. i noticed that it was very difficult to knead compared to the other bars. i also noticed that it didnt absorb the quick detailer. i assumed this is a good thing over the long run.

the other bars would tend to fall apart / stick to my fingers after 3 or 4 uses.



i`m just wondering if this is normal for the clay magic brand or if it sat too long.

Weird, as I have clay that`s several years old, doesn`t appear to have dried out :nixweiss

the clay doesnt appear to be dried out...i have used clay, and stored it in the original container until the next season and never came across this issue.



maybe i got a bad bar ?

The coarser claybars are stiffer, but not that I would call difficult to knead. Only in cool weather have I ever noticed a huge difference. Just make sure it is flattening easily on the paint surface. If it doesn`t then you have a greater chance of marks and marring.

I don`t think the CM Blue feels all that different than the Meg`s White. Then again, when I use it it`s in much smaller amounts than 1/3 of the bar.

Yep I don`t use the whole bar at once. One accidental drop and you either have to go through the hassle to clean it real good or you even might have to chuck it.

The clay magic bars have always felt a bit more firm to me. They also seem to work slightly better than the mothers, which are the best deal in my book.



I usually use two bars, on stays in a bucket of hot water and the other is used, then I swap and re-nead.

I always dismissed this as "too gimmicky" or possibly counterproductive when it comes to having to re knead the clay, but has anyone used one of these successfully?

I thought the same. I went out and got clay magic at the extensive recommendation of forum people. I didn`t like it - hard, not easy to work with, not really that effective.



I really like the detailers domain clay and also griots is my favorite. Griots is nice and workable and comes in a huge bar with a nice screw on container. I`ve never tried to clean it - for me I use a third of a bar on a car and just toss it. Or I keep a little leftover in a separate container to use on the paint in wheel wells, under running boards, and other odd places. I know you can get clay "looks clean" but question what else may be in there and don`t see the risk of dragging embedded particles across your paint to be worth the $5.

Same here. I was used to mothers clay for ever, then I switched to clay magic blue and it felt really stiff to me comparatively. It does seem to hold together way better for me as well though.

CM is a little "stiff" and feels a little "crumbly" compared to the solid bricks of clay.. I love CM, excellent shearing action and decon ability.

well, i used another new section of the block today for the camaro. the car now sits in a garage and only gets driven in nice weather. been like for about 5 years now and the clay magic marred the surface pretty bad.



so i will be moving on to another clay. good thing my SIP / VM / wolfgang combo works well 1:
