    Hello,

I live in an apartment now and can no longer wash my car with the time and space to do it properly, so i have to settle for the local hand car wash.

I`m looking for a good spray detailer or spray wax (not sure of the difference) that i can apply after taking it to the car wash. Hoping for something that will add a nice deep gloss but also add some protection.

I dont want to use a traditional rub on/off wax because i`m not doing the wash myself and dont want to rub any remaining grime into the paint. Think these sprays have some cleaning, non scratching qualities right?

Am i expecting too much? Any product recomendations?

I`ve read good things about Opti Seal - Think that would fit my needs?

Optimum`s Opti-Seal & Car Wax are both great products. And super easy to use. Once you use a Wipe On Walk Away (WOWA) product you`ll be hooked.

I like the Megs Ultimate spray wax if you are looking for a over the counter Spray. It beads well and will last at least your next wash. About once a month for me since I garage my cars in So Cal. Never tried the Optimum spray although it gets a lot of press on this forum

Are there any concerns with applying these sprays on a car that i didnt wash myself?

I`m a little worried about how clean it will be after the wash and dont want to rub grit into the paint (not to mention i`d have to drive it back from the car wash first also)

I know detail sprays have some cleaning anti/scratching properties - does the same apply to these?

I`d look at Waterless and No - Rinse products to wash your cars yourself. No rinse products like Optimum no rinse (ONR) don`t need a hose and just 2 gallons of water in a bucket to wash your car and do a great job. Waterless washes (like opticlean, HD, etc) are like quick detailers on steroids. You can literally wash your car with a spray bottle and a good microfiber towel.

The local `hand wash` place may be good or it may not. I`d rather do it myself and know what`s going on.

Get some Optimum No Rinse and Optimum Car wax. Once you get proficient, you can wash/wax a car in 30 minutes, about the same time it will take you to get to the (crappy) wash place and back.

Thanks everyones input. Rather than give a long explanation of my reason and housing situation please let me keep it simple and ask what would you recommend assuming washing the car with a bucket is not an option?

I dont think it would be an issue to use a detailing spray after a typical menu car wash, so i`m wondering what would be similar but also offer some protection?

Optimum, HD, Chemical Guys, Adams, and others all offer waterless wash products that will handle a surprising amount of dirt. Just spray on, wipe off, and apply a spray wax. 30 minutes, no bucket, and all in your hands and schedule.

I use No rinse at 4 oz per half gallon as a quick detailer with 3 -4 oz of spray wax mixed in. It is great for the daily drivers. I apply it with a half gallon garden sprayer whick costs about $7. I use this in between washes which are about once a month. This takes about ten minutes per car if you are not doing the wheels

I have LOVED Duragloss Aquawax for the last four years that I`ve used it. I found out about it here and read numerous good reviews on it, now I always have some on hand and use it after every 1-2 washes. I love this stuff and will use it until they stop making it or I die, whichever comes first.

Megs Ultimate is pretty awesome for something you can get anywhere i.e. Wal-Mart or Target! Zaino Z8,Surf City Speed Demon, and Duragloss AutoWax are awesome too. Zaino Z8 and Speed Demon look awesome on top of anything I`ve tried.

I also want to try Optimum`s spray wax and Mother`s FX eventually!
