The chemical makeup might be a bit different as one is for car environments and one for marine, but I guess you could email Meguiars and ask?

Just tried the #57 on some rubber trim, (auto), with nice results. The thought also crossed my mind if #40 & #57 are the same, or very similar.

Someone at another forum claims they are the same-

    Meguiars #57 Marine Vinyl/Rubber Cleaner/Conditioner - F150online Forums

]I also use the Meguairs on my Wakeboard boat and truck it works great for all vinyl rubber and plastic save a few bucks though don`t buy the Marine #57 instead buy the regular Meguiars Mirror Glaze #40 Vinyl & Rubber Cleaner/Conditioner it cost less just becasue it doesn`t say MARINE and it is the exact same product I have called and talked to Meguiars about it, because i use it both on my boat and truck i buy it by the gallon and just refill my spray bottle.

I like the Megs #40 . I`ve been using it for years and feel it`s one of the best for interior , exterior and tires .

The #57 is somewhat strong smelling, is very light tan in color. Is #40 similar in that regard , or is it a white color like most dressings?

Yes #40 is very slightly tan as well. Been using #40 for years on exterior trim, love it.
