    Is it safe to use a reg sponge to clean wheels and to dry some cheap MF towels???

    Best to treat them like your paint. The clear on your wheels will thank you in the long run. It is still a good idea to have dedicated wash media for your wheels.

    The problem is that the stuff you`re cleaning off the wheels is often *VERY* abrasive, and cheap MFs can often instill marring in-and-of themselves. I prefer soft wash media that area very free-rinsing (hence the BHB that I mentioned on your other "wheel cleaning" thread).
