I`m out of the loop on products these days.

Just purchased a Gold Mist Malibu and would particularly appreciate recommendations for light/neutral colors.

I haven`t forgotten that prep is still key

I`ve owned a Harvest Gold Metallic Taurus for the last 8 years, and have always achieved stellar results using Meguiar`s #7 (Show Car Glaze) followed by Meguiar`s #26 (Hi-Tech Yellow Wax). The #26 really warmed the gold metallic look up, and gave it a nice glow. It`s an old-school combo, but one that really works quite well. There is very little black trim on the Taurus, so I didn`t have to worry about the #26 drying on it.

The only prep work I ever did to the car was a once-over with Meguiar`s #83 (DACP) back in 2002 -- after that, it was a constant diet of 7 and 26.

In the last couple of years, I have also used DG #105 and Collinite #845 on the car with excellent results.

My vote would be for either Collinite 845 or FK1000P.

    Thanks for the replies.

Oddly, I`ve narrowed down my LSP to either #26 or FK1000P.

I`ve been a fan of both products but I`m not sure of what "look" I`m trying to achieve, a warm "nuba" glow #26 provides, or a brighter sealant shine, e.g. FK1000P?

Note that the #26 tends to make things look a little "darker" or "richer" due to all the oils. FK1000P makes things look more reflective and "brighter". The FK1000P has been described as looking like "additional clearcoat" and that`s not far off IMO.

FWIW, FK1000P will last much longer and cleans up/sheds dirt incredibly well.

FK1000P seems to have fallen off the most discussed list.

I`m not sure durability will be an issue as I`m sure I`ll wax monthly until the new-ness wears off From reviewing other post I`m guessing the corresponding QD`s would be FK425 for 1000P & Griots Speed Shine for #26 ... correct?

What wax is getting the most buzz these days? Just from reviewing recent threads it seems Autoglym HD is getting good reviews.

Menzerna Power Lock and AG HD seem to be the hot topics.

Oh, get me going about product-buzz

Yeah, guess people who like it still do and that nirvana-chasers have moved on to other stuff.

FK1000P really is good though, and (IMO) just unique enough that it`s worth trying.

Heh heh, OK, roger that on planning to wax all the time :chuckle:

Yeah, you have the QD match-ups right, at least IMO.

Purchased CG EZ Creme today. After I get WG DGPS and a couple of Autoglym products I`m done with the "product du jour" quest.

Well, at least until the next band wagon comes along

I think Blackfire Wet Diamond has been chatted about alot in the last few months. BFWD is my favorite sealant!!!!

My favorite combo is CG EZ Creme to prep the paint (a al DJ Majo) and then Blackfire Wet Diamond on top. BFWD is by far the best sealant I have used. If I want to use a wax I use Autoglym HD. This combo works great on the cars in my care -both of which are dark metallic silver.

Not sure how much EZ Creme Glaze will "prep" your paint, but I`m sure it will make it shiny and possibly fill some light imperfections like buffer swirls for a little bit. I like using Zaino on light colored metallics personally.

I`ve read good reviews on BFWD and WG DGPS 3.0 but couldn`t find a consensus on which is better.
