I was looking at picking up a new clay kit and was considering trying the Mother`s clay kit. Does any one have any thoughts on which was to go?

    Thanks, Paul

    Mothers hands down.

It removes more defects. However, the product is not very pliable. I usually soak it in hot water for 5 min, making it easier to work.

I prefer the mother`s clay. I think they recently (within the last year) came out with a package that has two clay bars.

+1 and yes, two clay bars. I cut each in half. Also includes a MF towel.

I haven`t tried the Mothers clay, but the Meguiars clay just isn`t all the impresive anymore. Years back, it used to be alright for an otc product. Maybe they have since changed the formulas of their clay

With Mother`s you get more value. 2 bars instead of one. Maybe it has been repackeged but the Meguiar`s bar was small and you only get one.

Mothers clay is pretty mild. If anything you`d get more marring with Megs aggressive clay.

I`ve used the mothers clay bar a long time ago and it worked well, and my paint was super smooth. Just make sure your spraying the surface and you should be fine. I didn`t find the clay to be that aggressive, actually being 18 at the time and really not knowing alot about detailing I thought the clay was supposed to take away swirl marks LOL. I remember vaguely saying to myself, "well it doesn`t seem like the swirls went away, but my car is super smooth now for some reason" LOL. Man now I`m almost 30, can`t believe how much I`ve learned since that day.

i havent noticed any marring with the meguiars agressive ive used the mothers clay bar kit the microfiber you get is better they come with 2 bars but there definatly smaller than the mothers the reason i dont like the mothers is there to sticky at times when i woudl be done with a section an ready to wipe it it woudl be hard to get the clay bar off the paint. i dont like teh lube much the meguiars quick detailer lube is amazing but now im using final inspection works amazing plus i got it uber cheap
