I have a dedicated mitt for that part. That pad always did scare me.

Bert- Glad it worked so well for you.

Huh, their Bug Pad marred things up, huh? I only tried it on one car (previous Crown Vic) and although it needed (major *major* *MAJOR*) correction, I didn`t notice the pad causing any new issues. I bet you could use anybody`s, uhm....aggressive but not too much...sponge with it; the Griot`s ErgoWave comes to mind, and Mike lambert claims it won`t mar (I`m afraid to try it).

I bet ABC isn`t popular because:

    -Doesn`t come in little quantities
-Isn`t commonly available through the Normal Vendors
-Doesn`t have [certain individuals] using/recommending/selling it
-Doesn`t have a catchy name or fancy packaging
    -Doesn`t do the color-change indication

I`d like to see an objective, quantitatively evaluated comparison between ABC and some of the somewhat similar products that people use/post about all the time. Wonder if *those* products have been tested/approved by all the Major Auto Makers the way ABC has..

Not that I think "C" is anything special

Heh heh, you kinda have dedicated mitts for...everything! Or so it seems to me I use cotton chenile (Viking brand perhaps?) wash mitts, but they`re not really "dedicated to "B" only".

Not like using the FinishKare stuff, which pretty much trashed any application media.

I didn’t use the Acid step pad, too rough. Next car I compound I will test it on.

The c soap would not be a good maintenance soap but I do like how clean it rinses off, no gloss agents or anything left behind. Great surface for polishing or lsp

Wonder if that pad *is* the same as the "Bug Pad" I got from them all those years ago...

Hey, forgot another *big* reason why the ABC might not be too popular-

It`s very mild, so as to be idiot-proof; Accumulator-proof would be fine, I don`t need the extra margin for error. I for one wish it were considerably more aggressive.

Since it`s so user friendly you`d think Autogeek would pick it up and sell it.

Maybe Valugard doesn’t want to sell it wholesale?

Yep similar to people wanting retail sites to carry Zaino. I think that was more Sal Zaino than it was the retail .sites

Bert- Yeah, I figure that, for whatever reasons, some want to keep everything the way *they* want it. OK....though in some cases (e.g., The Leather Doctor) it makes for such a huge PIA that I`m certain it limits their business.

Yep the Leather Doctor is another good example. I still haven`t ordered from them. They really should`ve sold to Autogeek to up their sales

    Re: Finish Kare Decon system

One thing I noticed about Valugard step A is that is is strong but not quite strong enough to remove road tar and such. Used Meguiars Body Solvent to get that off. If I remember correctly, Finish Kare’s Step A could. That stuff smelled like kerosene or something but could remove pretty much ANYTHING.

    Re: Finish Kare Decon system

Bert- Yeah, the "A" is infinitely milder than FK1119, which even softened up old laneline paint well enough for me to just peel it off.

Just FWIW, I always use a solvent if removing tar the chemical way (I usually just clay it off with Sonus SFX). AI/VG`s New Car Prep might be a better choice for tar removal.

AFAIK, the ABC is really..or at least was originally...developed as a New Car Prep system. We use it for across-the-board Decontamination, but maybe that stretches things a bit thin.

I suspect that the whole "first, do no harm" (especially to a manufacturer`s New Vehicle Inventory) is kinda taking priority.
