Firs post! Not a newbie to car detailing though. Love the forum and look forward to chatting w/ you all!

    Here`s the deal:

So I`ve been a little wax crazy over the last 6 months (just got a new Lexus IS350 6 months ago, color Metallic Dark Charcoal) and tried all sorts of products on it.

I would clay, use Wolfgang Paintwork Polish Enhancer before each wax to prep the paint and here`s what I`ve tried so far.

    Pinnacle Sig Series II

    Pinnacle Souveran

    Wolfgang Deep Gloss 3.0

    Max Wax

Wofgang Fuzion (whats on there now).

The good thing is they all look great. The bad thing is they all loog great! lol...

I just don`t see a stinking difference and I would like to think I have a pretty discerning eye. If anything, there are SUPER SUPER Subtle difference at VERY VERY best... but I`m starting to think that thats even placebo.

Love waxing my car, but I think I`m getting sick of spending the cash for SUPER MINOR differences that go away after the first rain or wash anyway. I`m so tempted to try Swissvax Concorso & Supernatural but my reasoning side of me think its just going to be a waste of $400 cuz I just wont see the difference.

Anyway, just venting and wanted your thoughts on the matter? Thanks!

To be honest with you ... the only thing I can really tell if they make metallic flakes pop or not.

I can somewhat tell if a nuba or a sealant has been used, but I really have to look at the vehicle in many angles.

I did notice a big difference on my wife`s car (metallic green highlander) when I first applied 845.

95% of the looks come from proper machine polishing my friend. I could put Turtle Wax or Mothers OTC Waxes on a corrected paint and it would look great. Spend more time on the prep, less on the final. I have maybe 10 waxes and sealants combined.

Mdgrwl, you are correct. You really won`t see a difference between LSP`s.

The only real discernible differences in most cases is:

The durability of the wax or sealant

and the visual difference between a sealant and a wax (a wax, being something that usually contains carnauba).

On my grey car, I like the glossy reflective look of NXT sealant.

However, I do not like the "warm", dull look that M16 carnauba wax gave my paint.

So yes, you`re right. The difference between most LSPs is hardly discernible.

For the general public, I totally agree. However, there are certain combos that work VERY well on certain cars. Even certain products work much better on various colors. Megs #26 looks great on darks and reds, where #16 looks great on whites and silvers. You can use 10 or 20 products before you find the magic combo. I nearly threw out my OCW because it did nothing on two cars I had tried it on, then I just tried it on my Audi and its amazing on the dark blue.

Don`t take my word for it though, I`m just an LSP nut, I probably have 20 or 30.

Help me not spend more money guys! Please!!!

I currently have Fuzion on my car and it looks good. Like I said, they all look good. Deep rich color, but the metallic pops. I`m happy with it.

But being as compulsive as I am, I REALLY still wanna try Swissvax Concorso & Supernatural.

If anyone has tried these, PLEASE tell me I`m not going to see a difference! Swissvax Concorso is touted to be this `breathtaking experience`... but really, its probably going to look like Fuzion right? Please tell me yes, my wallet will thank you!

During the past few weeks I have been working on a friends BMW to get it ready for winter. Similar color as your Lexus. I applied FK1000 followed by Pink Wax and it looked really nice. What took it to another level was UPGP....really amped up the shine!

I too cannot really tell the difference between waxes. Waxes and sealants, yes. This is why when I look at a wax I look for durability over any sort of "superior depth and shine" or whatever.

It`s funny that we agree that there is not much difference between LSP`s, yet you see MUCH more discussion on this forum comparing LSP`s than you do polishes. There are much bigger differences between polishes than LSP`s, generally speaking.

The differences are most noticable on dark colors but then again some people have an uncanny ability to see differences with the same product sold under different labels.
