What is the difference between an All Purpose CLEANER and an All Purpose DEGREASER? Dont APCs have degreasers in them?

I`m not 100% sure but the cleaner might not have as much chemicals as the degreaser. So the APC might be more safe in terms of "acid" and or "chemical" wise

The word degreaser means it`s used to break down grease, oil etch. All purpose cleaners are usually designed to clean non oil based staining.

Yeah, I would think they are pretty similar, "degreaser" might connotate a more concentrated product than "cleaner".

So for a heavily soiled engine bay, i should use an all purpose degreaser?

For a mildly dirty engine bay, i should use something like Meg`s APC+?

I have a bunch of SD-20 All Purpose Degreaser

Here is the MSDS MSDS Document for SD-20 ALL PURPOSE DEGREASER (AEROSOL)

Can anybody tell me if it`s safe to use?

I know the can in the picture says CLEANER, but i have the exact same cans and it says DEGREASER

As you noted, or somebody noted, cleaners are degreasers, or degreasers are cleaners...or something. This is kind of like the difference between a compound and a polish and a glaze...there are not set guidelines for the terminology. To my mind, a degreaser would be stronger than a cleaner, but they might be exactly the same chemical, just more concentrated in the degreaser, after all that`s how a dilutable APC works, more diluted for light soil, less diluted for heavy soil. The key is whether the product is stated to be safe for paint, etc.

Purple power is labeled as a cleaner/degreaser (both), but I just refer to it as an APC and dilute it accordingly.

Wanna see something funny? Search google images for purple power. This suprised me .

I know the Megs Detailer line Super Degreaser requires a chemical resistant sprayer, while the APC`s do not. There`s some food for thought.

if i`m not mistaken you need a chemical sprayer for the APC or APC+ because its like a degreaser but not as strong:bolt
