I picked these pads up about a month ago on Ebay. They are the 3M 5.5 inch waffle weave buffing pad. I got some of the the black and finally had a chance to try out the black on a detail that I did. I really love these pads. They fit perfectly on my 3M yellow backing plate and just seem to glide on the surface. For the price they can`t be beat. I ended up buying 40 more...I decided to try out some of the white wool and other pads the vendor (detailerguy.com) was offering.

    I think I am set for a while...:chuckle:

Thanks for the review, Pat. I know John (Eliot Ness) bought some too, and he also sold ten to me...Haven`t used them yet though. Let me know what you think about the white wool pads.

Are this cutting, polishing or finishing pads?

What products did you use them with?

    Speeds?

    Results?

At that price, I might just have to give them a try.

    Thanks.

    They`re a finishing pad....Similar to the LC black/grey pad.

Black is finishing and white is polishing. I used them today with 1Z HGP on a Makita 9227 with a 3M backing plate at speeds of 1000-1200 rpm. The results were excellent.

They r really good pads and at the price you can buy alot and not have to worry about pad cleaning much while working, just toss the used one in some water and put on a new one. Detailerguy has some good contests going on too

Hey, Denz. So, do you currently have any of these in black? If not, if you order some of the white pads, we could do a trade. Let me know if you`re interested.

Always interested in combos involving 1Z HG

Do these pads take a 3M-specific/reverse velcro backing plate? I seem to recall 3M being, uhm..unique in that regard but I could be wrong
