Does anyone have the 6" TOL Flex pad holder?

    Universal Flex Pad Holder 6"

Only one picture shows the `foam` cushion around the flex pad so it makes me wonder if it`s a boo-boo. I want something with some good flex but also with a bit of protection. I really wish we could get those 3M backing plates the guys in europe can get.

At any rate, if you do have this item can you give a quick review of it?

I`ve heard this, but then again I`ve heard those SOLO plates are not so great too.

I use one on my Metabo rotary. It is a well made backing plate, and just the right size for the 7 inch CCS pads.

Is it wrapped in foam like the picture on the page? the reason I ask is because not all the pictures in the page show that foam.

Also, doesn`t LC just make 6.5 and 7.5" CCS pads? which ones do you have?

are you talking about the blackfoam?

if so I think that is a finishing pad

and not part of the BP

Yeah. That looks a bit small to be a finishing pad... but I guess if the backing plate is 6 " the pad is too.. or a bit over.

Mindflux, I have the TOTL unit, but the only thing I have to compare it to is a 3m one I have. I really like it and it is quite flexible. the center, shiny piece is hard plastic and the surround is a rubber/foam type substance. the velcro is quite tacky and I am very happy with it. Now, I don`t know if it`s the best out there or any thing, but I like mine. If you have any specific questions you can PM me.

Oh so it does have a foam substance? That`s what it looked like to me and then I sort of lost hope when someone mentioned it may just be a pad.

Can you get a picture of it for me so I can get a better idea of it?

the pic looks deceiving but my guess would be that the backing plate does not have a foam that surrounds it. Like someone had mentioned previously, to me it looks more like it`s sitting on top of a black finishing pad with a little pressure applied.

FWIW, my guess would be that the bp is manufactured by Lake Country. Here`s AG`s Lake Country rotary bp:

    EDIT:

Upon further inspection, the reason why the pics look just slightly different is because that`s not a 6" pad that you`re seeing on the TOL website. It looks like they`re using the 4 3/4" rotary backing plate with the adapter and the pic was taken with a PC, as you can see the PC`s gray shroud in the photo.

I like it better than the 3M because it`s more flexible and it`s further from the machine which gives me more room to maneuver.
