sonus polishes and pads

I`ve been on the forums for a couple months and i`ve noticed that people don`t really use the sonus sfx pads or polishes for click and brags or talk about them much. I just bought some a few days ago and haven`t had a chance to use them yet. Are they not as good as other polishes?

I use Sonus SFX 2 and 3 a lot. These are especially great on soft to medium paint. I have been very happy with them. SFX 3 with a finishing pad will leave an amazing glossy and slick finish. I go through SFX 2 and 3 polishes like crazy.

Ok thanks. I`m not sure how hard my paint is but im gonna do some polishing for the first time over spring break.

SFX 1,2,3 are fantastic polishes. Like the doc says, SFX 3 I think is one of the best finishers out there. You get a lot of Zaino freaks on here and there is a reason for it. Zaino makes great stuff. But I tend to stick with the Sonus polishes because I deal manily with soft Euro BLACK!!!!!! paint. I detail Bentley`s, Ast. Martins and Rolls the most and would be lost without the SFX line of polishes and pads. The Yellow (sfx 1) pad is one of the most versatile pads on the market. The White (sfx 2) pad does a great job of bringing back the luster and depth. The sfx 3 pad I actually have two different colors with. The blue and red. For some reason the red is a lot softer and gets used the most.

Now, if you are dealing with harder clear coats you might need a pad with a little more hmph then the yellow pad. But I believe the SFX 1 polish is right up there in cutting power with some of it`s comparable comp. Even though it is pretty easy to find stronger polishes.

So if you ask me, I think you will really enjoy them. I do believe they were made especially for DA line of polishers. I use something different with my rotary, but if you are using only a DA polisher then I think they are the best.

It feels strange to say, but I have never used sonus polishes, I have used their pads, never the polish. I think there is a place for every pro polish for certain paints in everyones arsenal and am a little disappointed in myself for not having a single one.

Yep... SFX-3 is an amazing finish polish. I just bought Menzerna PO 87MC so i`ll see how it compares.

I`m interested in how these compare as well because I`m debating between the 2 to use with a PC.

Back to the Sonus polishes though, the SFX-3 description has me a bit confused because it reads, "Amazing high gloss finish without abrasives." So is SFX-3 basically a glaze/cleaner and SFX-2 more of an actual finishing polish?

I have SFX-2 and it works well, but I perfer Meguiars #80 or poli-seal for the lighter stuff.

SFX-3 in one word......amazing. I`d compare SFX-3 to Meg`s #7 as both being more of a glaze, pure polish. SFX-3 looks just as good as M7 in my opinion but the SFX-3 is such a breeze to use. M7 can be a pain if not used exactly right and even then isn`t as easy as SFX-3.

Sorry if this is a bit off topic, but since you`re comparing SFX-3 to a glaze I was wondering if you`d think SFX-3 is needed since I already have the Danase glaze. Or does SFX-3 actually offer some correction ability (not filling)? Thanks

I`ve never even attempted to use SFX-3 as a correctable polish, so never have found it to be a requirement. I wouldn`t bother with SFX-3 if you are already using a glaze. If you did get any correction in the paint from using SFX-3, I`d give credit more to the pad than to the polish. SFX-3 is just the final touch in my opinion and the only time I ever use it is on my own car (black) AFTER all correction is done.....just to give it that extra pop.

I only use SFX-3 after a heavier polish - IP, SFX-2, etc. It leaves a really nice gloss and is a breeze to use. I also intend to use SFX-3 or 87MC with a blue pad as a maint step every 3 - 4 months. I`ll do a comparison b/t SFX-3 and PO 87MC (when the weather breaks in the north east) and post the pics. It will be a black Acura TL.
