I`m looking to getting into the 3M line of products. I want to purchase a 3M backing plate, and the ultrafina polishes. Does anyone have any expereince with either of these? I`m trying to figure out which polish does which job, which one removes the marring etc etc!!

    Thanks!!!!

I don`t have the part numbers with me at this time - but here`s what I bought and have had very good results from: 3M Extra Cut with their wool and foam compounding pads and I like their polishing pad (the gray one) too. The Ultrafina SE and their blue pads are excellant. OK - so what about regular polishing - well, I like Menzerna IP/106 for that. Try the 3M pads, they worked fine with the backing plate that came with my Makita, I think you`ll be pleased.

    I use all except E and F.

I use the rubbing compounds with wool, the swirl mark remover with 3m`s black polishing pad, and the ultrafina with their blue pad. The 3000 setup is pretty bang on for great results.
