Out of the towels I have, I found the softest to be between these two:

    PREMIUM MICROFIBER

Car Wax, Car Polish, Auto Detail Supplies : CHEMICAL GUYS WHOLESALE AUTO DETAILING SUPPLIES CAR WASH PRODUCTS PROFESSIONAL CAR DETAIL SUPPLY FACTORY DIRECT

    The thickest are these two:

Cobra Super-Plush Deluxe Microfiber Towel is 100% microfiber all the way to the edge! Our softest microfiber detailing & buffing towel.

    Cobra Deluxe Jr. Microfiber Towel

    And the plushest:

    microfiber silk edged towels

Also note that I just recently received all of these towels within the past few weeks and haven`t gotten the chance to use them yet. They are all still brand new, so I can`t comment on absorbency, etc.

But, I am actually sending the Cobras back to Autogeek. They aren`t bad towels at all, and are very soft, and of generous size. But, I was disappointed with them. They just didn`t meet my expectations. They really are nice, but they are no nicer than my towels from CG. Also, I don`t like the lining on the Cobra towels. The lining doesn`t look like it was woven too tight, and it definitely looks like it is/will lint from the lining.

Out of all of those my favorite is the the last link that I posted (light blue CG towels with silk lining). Those are the absolute best quality towels out of all of them. I love how they feel and they`ll probably get used more than any of my other towels.

The green Viking detailing cloths at Kmart. Can`t find a link. They`re 16x24". I think this is the same thing, but white and only 16x16 (still a great cloth):

They are nice towels, that can easily compete with most boutique brands.

Justin over at Obsessive Detail has his towels on sale right now and they are quite nice!! I just received my yellow ones this past week.

I already had quite a few of the green super premiums, but the yellow ultra premium`s are quite a bit more plush.

Um, lining is not the same as edging, but whatever. I personally don`t have any MF`s with lining.

The CG Fluffer is hands down my favorite towel. Everyone thinking about the Cobra Purple Jr., all of mine are now linting. Be aware.

That`s my thickest/etc. too. But I suspect the same thing is available under different names so others are probably suggesting the same one.

I don`t find it the right towel for *every* application though. Sure wouldn`t be my choice for buffing off KSG/etc. residue.
