Long nap bent over on itself isn`t so much a problem as compression of nap at a point where they lay in opposite directions, thereby exposing backing material. In that case, the length of the nap isn`t so much a problem as the density is. A greater density can help prevent backing material exposure. Avoiding excess compression is also the issue there, as it would be with any length of nap.
This is a good reason for avoiding using any towel in a wadded (sp?) up form. I`ve seen some youtube videos where pros crumple up the towel for QD or residue removal. If folded properly into quarters, this doesn`t become an issue.
For residue removal, our testing has shown the longer naps are sexier and softer to use, but much less effective, particularly on the more difficult to remove residues. But they sure feel nice in your hands.
