Ultima Elastrofoam Paint Cleaning System

Has anybody tried this yet? Does it marr like the other elastrofoam "clay bar"?

Well, I was at the Ultima product launch last week and was curious about that myself. Boy is that stuff so easy to use compared to claying, I was using that on a blue Trans-Am and have to say that it did not mar the surface at all. Plus as a added bonus it smell like peaches, thanks to that it makes me think of Ultima detailing spray now. We left some baking in the sun and yeah it started to stick to your hand like clay does when it gets hot. But we were polishing the car anyways so light marring doesnt really matter if it was there the car had a good amount of swirls in it to start with. That is my first hand experience, but I cant give a real honest review about it till I try it on other cars. FWIW the detailing spray is nice it has a nice viscosity and sticks to the paint rather than run all over the place after you spray it. To me that alone is priceless.

The other thing about this tool is the price point, right now it is more expensive than a big bar of clay, do we think this product will last "forever" and outlast multiple bars of clay and make itself cost-effective? I guess no one has used it enough to gauge its wear resistance/longevity. Anybody have any thoughts on the color? I think we all look at our clay to see how dirty it`s getting....this thing is black so that seems impossible.

But you can`t rinse the contaminants from clay like you can with this tool. How do you know when it`s contaminated and needs to be rinsed? Can`t tell ya, but if you use a bit of common sense i`m sure you can avoid having a problem due to a contaminated tool.

Agreed, I`m just brainstorming the pros/cons.

I heard that only one company in the world is making those blocks, then everyone else is calling them their brand. I got one from the local detail supply store and I absolutely love it. I have used it on at least 5-6 cars already and it shows no sign of wear or marring.

Which QD are you using Brandon? I held one that was purchased from ADS, and it seems that it would need a very lubricious QD.

I have a feeling there might be something different with the Ultima version, so far as Ultima`s own clay lube.

I know ADS sells the same exact "clay" bar... but obviously not with Ultima`s gel lube.

This seems like a very good product - IF it doesn`t mar. I would love to have a product that I can just rinse off if I drop it. As of now, I have to rip up my clay into a gazillion tiny pieces in order to minimize the impact of dropping one.

Im curious on how aggresive they are or can be, for example like clay bar have lite, meduim, aggressive/heavy?

You press harder, they are more aggresive. Lighter pressure= less aggresive.

That is great price. Do you happen to know is that regular price or sale price? ADS sells them for $22.95 but that is introductory price, they quote regular price of $27.99.
