I would like to know of some good PC packages which include everything I need to get started (pads/backingplate/polish). I will be doing light-moderate correction. One of my panels was repainted, so I need the package to include a body-shop safe polish. Thanks.

Kind of pricey, was curious about your take on this before spending $280..

I would put together your own package. I got my P/C as a gift, it was the tropicare P/C pack, which I would not recommend. Here is what I would buy:

    P/C (7224 or 7336, it doesn`t matter)

    5" backing plate

    Edge 2000 adapter

    Wolfgang Light cutting pad

    Wolfgang regular (?) cutting pad

Edge 2000 one of each cutting pads

finishing pads (2) of your choice

    Optimum Compound

    Optimum Polish

Wax/Sealant of your choice (I own S100, the Zaino system, and Meg`s cleaner wax.)

However much microfiber you think you need

If I were to start from the beginning, that is what I would buy. I suspect that is probably more than the advertised package you linked to, but it will give you a feel of what pads you like, and the Optimum polishes work well (good size bottle=good value)

    My .02 cents

Jonathan, a body shop safe formula counts BEFORE painting, not after. Menzerna is one of the best you can get.

BMW335i the AG package is a good starter one, but it`s up to you on how much you want to spend. And don`t forget to add your discount to that (autopia). or look at the UDM package kit for 249.99.
AutopiaForums is the place to be.

If you`re in to Megs products take a look at autodetailingsolutions.com, they`ve got some nice starter packs. Also if it matters to you remember that the PC comes with a 1 year warranty while Megs gives the G100 a lifetime warranty (even though it`s the same tool).

If I could buy everything again I would get the PC, 5" backing plate, Menzerna SIP and PO106FF from autogeek (that would include two 5.5" orange pads), and two 6.5" white CCS pads. The pads with a lower cut are basically useless to me because there`s no reason you can`t/wouldn`t apply your LSP to a well polished car by hand.

Sorry, had to add: I would also get a 3.5" backing plate and a couple 4" pads. These are just too useful for things like headlights, wheels, small areas etc.

I just started and, per the advice of some members on the forum I started out small and avoided packages.

    Here is what I bought:

    PC

Edge DA Starter Kit ( The Edge Dual Action Starter Kit )

    16oz Poorboy`s SSR3

    32oz Poorboy`s SSR2.5

    32oz Poorboy`s SSR1

I`m forced to do most of my work in the sun so the PB products are an excellent choice from me. I couldn`t be happier with anything I purchased.
