I`d also like to hear an update on these gauges. 1bluecls, lecchilo, tdekany...was it "money well spent", or a "should`ve gotten something else"? I woudn`t mind getting a paint gauge especially for ss paint and higher end cars.
If they did it was due to variability in measurement technique, not from the thickness of wax.
The thickness of a layer of wax is way, way, way smaller than the ability of any paint thickness meter to read.

I am heavly leaning towards the Phase II 3550, from Coating Thickness Gages lists for 445$ The dual metal reading, very good accuracy and high precision.

`actuall i want to buy product from PosiTest too but it\`s seem very expensive! like,PosiTest DFT,PosiTector 200 Series this tool very usedful for car detailer like us. \r\n\r\ni just start business in Thailand. Most of the tool i used have to import form US. so, i try to looking for a good price and good perform. if your guy have anything for advice, Please don\`t hisitate! Thanks`
`\r\n\r\nI have seen a few people with it at dealer auctions. From what they tell me, it works better than all of the paint meters under $500. The HighLine Paint Meter Gauge has a website at Paint Meter, Paint Gauge - HighLineMeter.com and according to the description, it is supported by the Elcometer people. As most of you know, Elcometer is the most reputable paint gauge company around and their \`orange\` 311 Milgage is very popular among car professionals. For $249.99, the HighLine Paint Thickness Meter Gauge is definitely the best deal out there.`Originally Posted by sly

While the above meter sounds great please consider the error % and the interval reading in both mils and um. I`ve noticed this company does not post that info, I`ve emailed them for more info. If all things are equal the highline might be a consideration. However you usually get what you pay for, and I think the accuaracy will be less than the PTG by Phase II 3550.
