There are some decent OTC products...Collinite 845 and DG AW come to mind. Most of the Meg`s line is decent.

I`m not forced to use OTC products but I really like to use them because they are that excellent. Take for example the Mothers Reflections series, or the FX line. Wonderful products. Stellar appearance, absolutely the easiest to use, and decent durability.

Next, Collinite. They don`t need any further introduction.

Or take Meguiar`s #26 or NXT Paste (!), which give sensational look too. Maybe you can find even the #21 at certain stores, which is one of the greatest sealant ever. If you want truly killer look, try the Turtle Ultra Platinum series.

The recent bandwagon is the Duragloss line, but unfortunately I haven`t tried them yet.

whoa, never heard that one before, have you tried thier otc three step? thier cleaner wax? any nxt products? i like the nxt detergent and paste wax. i dont use them normally but have and loved the results. what about hot tire shine you dont like it or have you used it? meguairs makes good stuff otc and pro line obviously the pro line is slightly more top notch but still their otc is good. i use to think the same about them until i actually used everything correctly now megs is gold in my book and will most likely stay that way.

I vote for Liquid Glass. The prep and sealant are readily available and offer outstanding results. Mothers has some very good products as well.

I wouldn`t even consider using any over the counter products, they don`t even compare.

i tihnk hot tire shine compares if not beats many top shelf dressings at least in the shine and curb appeal section maybe not durability. its ease of use requires very few brain cells. very high shine when properly applied.

WOW-that`s a pretty arrogant, ignorant statement. Granted Zaino is considered the King of car sealants but some OTC offerings are darn good. Collinite 845, Duragloss 105 and AW are all products that equal or excell the quality of competing boutique products.

I get great results (in my mind) on my own car, and am 100% OTC.

    All by hand:

Exterior (Liquids applied with Meguiar`s foam applicators and removed with Vroom microfiber towels):

Wash - Kit Carnuaba Wash and Wax with Vroom Chenille Sponge

Dry - Vroom Drying Towel, every other time using Eagle One Wax As You Dry

    Clay - Meguiar`s Quik Clay

    Polish - Meguiar`s ScratchX

    Clean - Meguiar`s ColorX

Seal - Mother`s Reflections Advanced Car Wax

Wax - Collinite Insulator Wax #845

    Headlights - Meguiar`s PlastX

    Windshield - RainX

    Tires - Armor All

    APC - Purple Power

Interior (Product application and removal - Vroom microfiber towels):

    Windows - Sprayway Glass Cleaner

Vinyl - Clean with Meguiar`s Quik Interior Detailer and protect with Vroom Protectant

Cloth - Clean with 8:1 water:Woolite mix, pretreat with Folex spot remover

There are always Autobody paint and Detailer suppliers in town. I have both up here and the detailer supplier has their own line of polishes, sealants, you name it. Very competively priced and in many cases better than what I would`ve ordered on-line.

I guess it would depend on what type of OTC products we are talking about.

Their are some good waxes, dressings, cleaners even at Pepboys or Autozone. Polishes on the other hand when OTC are a little to mild for any serious correction and that`s by design. I mean it`s the average Joe it`s being marketed to, not Mr. Uber Pro Detailer who wouldn`t be shopping there anyway.

I get my MF`s from Pepboys (Meg`s ultra plush something or another) the yellow ones. They have been through I can`t tell how many washes and still leave no marring on my Black Paint.
