Recently my pads haven`t been sticking to the backing plate very well and in fact in some cases not at all. I was thinking the backing on the pads were failing and causing them not to stick. I was at Home Depot the other day and came across a package of velcro strips (industrial strength) thinking I could use these on the pads. I decided to first try the one side on the backing plate and voila, the pads stuck to the plate like new. Problem solved. So before you throw out that old backing plate, give the velcro strips a try. I used the 2" ones and put 2 on the plate.

I used those strips on the sanding backplate that came with my 7336 until I received the proper one I ordered from Autopia. The velcro strips were strong enough that I had to pull HARD to peel the pads off to the extent I worried I was going to pull the velcro off the foam, even when I tried to be careful. Also, the adhesive on the 3M velcro strips started pulling off the backplate. If I had it to do over again, I`d have just waited till I had a proper backplate.
