Quick question for you experienced detailers who use OPTIMUM POLISH & COMPOUND. Recently purchased a used car, which has not been detailed for a few years. Very light oxidation. Car is Gold Metallic. With the two options below as a starting point, which would you feel to be the more Aggressive / Conservative approach:

    As a "starting" point:

    1. Optimum Polish with Orange Pad

    2. Optimum Compound with White Pad

Also, any opinions on mixing the Polish and Compound together?

    Thanks

I know there is a few guys here doing a 50/50 mix of the polish and compound and getting great results. I`m itchin` to try the opt line.

Your most aggressive of your choices is the compound with an orange pad. The least aggressive (you always want to start off with the least aggressive approach) would be the opt. polish and white pad. Is this with a PC.

This is assuming your orange pad is a cutting pad, and the white is a polishing pad.

I think I`d try the OP with the orange pad. I recently used a mothers powerpolish/megs #9 blend with a Megs burgundy cut pad to remove swirls. If that doesn`t work then step up to the OC with the orange pad then follow up with the white pad and OP.

    w/ orange pad most aggressive

no difference with 50/50 mix or by itself. I find the pad makes the diff.

Regardless of which aggressive level you choose, Optimum takes a longer time to break down.

I use a rotary @ 1400 rpm which still takes time to break down. If by a pc, then it will be significantly longer
