Finally !!!!!

finally got my car back from the body shop. I just have one quick question. I have a 04 Mustang GT, and the hood/front bumper has fresh paint. I know I can`t put any sealant or hard polish on the paint for 3 months or so. HOWEVER, there is a car show I will be attending at the end of this month and I want to make my black paint REALLY black. Is there a glaze or light polish that I can use on the fresh paint that wont damage the new paint. I want to do it two days before the show so from here to now the paint will be about 4 weeks old.

P.S. I`m a detailing newb, I want to use the glaze/polsh with my PC I`m assuming I`m gonna have to use a blue finishing pad and at speed 1....and please don`t use abbreviations as I have no clue what they mean thnx !!!!

You can use Finish Kare 2180 or 218, 24 hours after repainting.

The PC/finishing pad is good, the speed can go up a bit - up to 3, but fresh paint is soft, so be careful.

I`m a NEWB, I only know of blackfire , poorboys, and sonus, 3M and meguirs......when I did a search on Finish Kare, it came out with some UK stuff Is it available in the U.S. ?

Another quote: "218 vs. 2180 - 218 was the original sealant developed at the request of a couple automotive manufacturers. 2180 was developed several years later as an even more durable, longer lasting protect. Basically more of everything and then sum. 218 does incorporate some light conditioners that aid in the removal of surface accumulation. 218 is designed to last approximately 6-9 months 2180 is designed to last 1 year plus (theoretic ideal conditions). To ensure maximum protection it is recommended to allow them to dry 15-20 minutes prior to wiping the film clear. By their nature both 218 and 2180 migrate into the pores of the paint (paint is porous) which gives the paint additional protection from environmental contaminates such as ferrous metals and also prevents acidic compounds from migrating into the subsurface of the paint. Both products are safe and highly recommended for use on fresh paint and yes they will allow the paint to breath.

The products that are highest in poly resins with have more durability and gloss. Products that are blended with carnaubas or other natural waxes will have increased depth and gloss.

The only recommendation would be to base coat with your most durable protectant preferably 2180 or 218. From there you can layer however which way you want."

I found out about the Finish Kare 2180 being new paint safe when they responded to my email after I had bodywork done. Try some 2180 and top it with their 425 QD spray for a great shine. Not as much protection as wax or sealant obviously, but probably about as good as you can do on new paint.
