hand applicators?

a question for those that apply wax and polishes by hand, what type of applicators are best for each process?? microfiber, foam, or what ?? sometimes i like to so some stuff by hand still.. its more of a enjoyment thing i guess.. i still only use the foam applicators..

the Viking handi grip foam applicators are easiest IMO

I like to apply with foam applicators. They don`t absorb extra product like microfiber pads will.

Yeah I bought some MF`s and i really didnt like them for wax application. I like the pad that comes with NXT otherwise most foam pads work very well.

When it comes to applicators, I use foam for LSPs and MF ones for polish (ie. AIO) when I need more grab.

MFs will just absorb too much of the LSP when you just need to glide it on the paint.

Yup me too I just stick with the yellow foam applicators for light polishing and waxing/sealing. If your polishing and want a little more "bite" you can use a terry applicator.

I usually save my MF pads for protectant dressing, its the only thing that gives me a nice, smooth, even finish on my dash and plastic trim.

Same here, though I`ll use terry for some very aggressive polishing (at least the first few passes).

why would you use hand pads for polishing when you have machine`s available? Tight spaces (has a car that has no area unable to be reached by machine)?

Neothin- Specific example- the area behind the door handles of our Audis. And no, it wasn`t *my* nails or my wife`s that caused the marring And no#2, I can`t put protective film there because the area`s been repainted



Also tight spots under the hood, in door/trunk jambs (especially around hinges) and the back sides of the front fenders (where you can only access the area by reaching in past the front of the doors with the doors open- yeah, I *did* polish this area smoother paint means easier cleaning).

I use a sponge ( o-cello made by 3M ) found in grocery stores. It lets you use just the right amouint of wax or polish.
