Being that it is that time of year, I figured with QEW, and Optimum`s qew not within quick reach, I`d make my own.

    I`m thinking of this concoction

part Poorboys super slik and suds

    part Dawn

    part Poorboys Quick Detail

    part water

the parts for mixture are still up for debate but its worth a try.

what more could I include ?

How much better are the chemicals in these quick wash solutions ?

has anyone tried making their own ?

I`d forego the Dawn, and I think the PB`s SSS, like any other car shampoo, could leave behind residue.

At the expense that you`re stripping off your wax.

Are you referring to S&G or S&W? Have you tried Poorboy`s S&W? I highly recommend it. Unless the car is caked with road grime, this product is a life saver.

I wouldn`t try it. Anytime you use wash soap it needs to be rinsed off. QEW is really cheap, so there is no reason IMO to try to mix your own.

I have to agree. The mess left behind with most traditional car washes in the form of residue is reason enough just to go with the QEW. You can pick it up locally in many places. Some Wal-Marts even carry it. Traditional car washes are designed to work best being rinsed off. QEW is just the opposite.
