    Hello guys,

I don`t have a garage at my house, so I`m looking for a way to cover my car and protect it from the usual suspects, sun, weather, birds, etc. Anyone know of something that looks good (classy, not like a tent)? I`m just now getting my search going, so I`ve just seen the cover/port thing that Duraports makes (duraports dot com I think? something like that) and it looks nice; it`s only got two poles supporting the whole thing, which I like. What I want to know is, what are you guys using? Any recommendations or warnings? What should I be looking for? I`m kind of leaning towards a car port of some kind, mainly because I want to work under it. Anyway, let me know what you guys use. Thanks

Some sort of carport would probably be better as it would be touching your car like a car cover. Also like you said you can work on the car under a carport.

I have had both (actually I used to keep my car covered inside my carport).

    Car cover:

Get one made for your vehicle, generic ones tend to blow off because of loose fit (dust can blow under it as well).

Takes some getting used to the hassle of putting it on and off.

Keeps prying eyes from looking inside for stuff to seal.

    Car port:

Alows you to work on the car in the sun.

Will not protect your car from morning and afternoon sun.

Wind driven rain still gets in.

Dust and soot will still accumulate on the car.

    good luck....

I have a garage that is filled with junks so I park my car outside 24/7.

I have a car cover that works well. Takes about 45 seconds to take on/off.

However there are two things I don`t like.

    1. The cover seems to lose its water repellant property rather quickly (I have a weathertech HD).

    2. Massivie amount of condensation on the cover in the morning. So, I get water droplets on my car when I take off the cover - can be remedied with quick QD.

I have not come across any nice looking car port on the web (perhaps I am not looking at the right places). I don`t think our neighbors would appreciate us putting something hedious on the driveway.

The thing that might work for me would be a motorized (very long) awning attached to the front of the house. I could park my car underneath it. I could roll it up when not needed. I don`t think anybody makes anything like this (probably some weight support issue due to the length of the awning).

    Good luck with your search.

I`ve never had any problems w/ the water repellancy of my Weathershield car cover. I highly recommend these or their Weathershield HD covers over all other outdoor covers on the market.
