Reminded me a tiny bit of the opening of the Sopranos. I could see "one of the boys" driving one back to Jersey from NYC .

Nice car. Not as powerful or expensive as I thought it would be but 5.1/5.8 0-60 (depending on transmission) isn`t bad.

Very nice. Rumor has it that the car is actually faster around Nurburgring than the Carrera.

I think those numbers are a bit conservative. But chalk this up to another Porsche marketing scheme. It`s not much more than a coupe version of the Boxster S. Yet costs $8k more.

I think they should have kept the power the same, but made it 100-200 pounds lighter, with maybe more suspension options. That would have grabbed my attention a bit more.

Regardless, this will be a very nice car.

Typical Porsche….the numbers will be conservative. So far all their cars have tested with the magazines faster than the factory numbers. But 0-60 is not the big thing about this car. It is all about handling and potentially the future of Porsche’s focus and design. The car is a mid engine design with a stiffer chassis than the Boxster (some sources say stiffer and more rigid than the 997) along with a rumored to weight less than 2950 lbs. It rumored to lap the ring faster than the 997. The PASM (adjustable suspension) is an option along with the PCCB brakes. The car should be phenomal drivers car that is just flat out fun to drive. In the right hands it will be incredibly fast and quick on the track. It won’t win any drag races but then Porsche has never really been about that. It could offer an exception platform to build a club racer out of.

Depending on driving impression, it is on very short list of cars to replace my current 996. Hopefully it will be as much a drivers car as they are advertising.

There are a lot of theories on where Porsche is heading into the future with both the 911 and now the Cayman. It is no secret that the Boxster chassis could handle a lot more power but is being artificially hindered (held back) by Porsche so as not to take away from the 911. Now they have added a stiffer more capable chassis into the mix. I can`t wait to see what Ruf and other tuners do with the car. There is a rumor this car could be the basis for a factory racing effort.

Great comments...I was thinking the mid-engine design was really its strength. I was not much of a Boxster fan until the new ones came out and the interior was upgraded. I think this move up may be worth the $8K. Low 5 second range is plenty fast for me. Probably will do upper 4s.
