Not sure if this the right sub-forum...I`ve an appointment with Safelite to look at my windshield for a possible repair. If the windshield needs to be replaced should I go with these cats or try a better local shop? The internet reviews seem to be quite negative about Safelite. `course I read these reviews after I set the appointment through my insurance company.*sigh* Just looking for some reassurance or warnings.

I had them replace the glass in my Mustang a couple years ago. I didn`t have any problems.

The damage was repairable. The blemish looked for all the world like the result of the windshield being shot with a pellet gun. The tech fixed the area in just about 5-7 minutes. Very cool.

Windshield repair is a very profitable business. Think about this, I have repaired many windshields in my business. I am a private owner. I am neither for nor against Safelite. If you repair enough windshields, eventually your gonna break one. It`s just the odds( a game of chance). Most times - if the windshield is repaired correctly, you will see nothing but the remains of a pit( where the windshield was repaired). If the person performing the repair has less experience(this is less likely to be repaired correctly).

As much as I would like to bash Safelite( I just can`t). They run a very profitable business, however I have had customers complain that Safelite was passing on repair jobs vs. replacement jobs. Usually any job the size of a quarter or smaller can be repaired.

That`s pretty much all I can see now of the blemish...the remains of a pit. The damage was less than the size of a quarter.
