    Cars.com: 2006 Dodge Charger R/T

It`s a 2006 Dodge Charger Daytona in Go Mango! with only 33k miles. It`s also got a moonroof, but no nav. They`re asking 19k, but I`m thinking I could get it for like 18k. It sure is pretty... and that`s about the price I was thinking I`d like to pay for something like that...

My current car is fine, but will need new tires and some other expensive maintenance too. It`s not really as fast or luxurious as the Charger though, and it kinda bores me. I have not started my new job yet, but since the payments would be about the same, the difference would be putting my money into repairs or into a down payment...

I dunno, it doesn`t fit as much as an Explorer...and I think less than an RSX, too.

Did I talk you out of it yet?

The tires are really not that shiny, and the burnt orange look will go out of style, plus your insurance is gonna go through the roof.

I hope that these comments add more to talking you out of it.

LOL, my girlfriend has the regular R/T and has had problems with it. The transmission acts funny some times and they said it has no problems. She`s takin it in to the dealer twice for the same computer problem. The car can be a bit of a hassle. Plus the gas mileage sucks and you HAVE to put atleast the middle grade of gas (89 I think) so it gets expensive.

XRL- If you`re no longer enamored of your current ride, the Charger might be fun. And depending on what your current vehicle is, I can go either way on paying for maintenance or towards ownership.

But the fiscal conservative in me is whispering that you really oughta run the numbers and make sure you can *really* afford it.

I dunno about the paint not staying desirable; my mother had a `69 Charger in that color and forty years later I still think it`s cool. Of course some might argue that if *I* think something`s cool then it`s *SO* not

If you don`t drive it like a Grandma, you get the worst gas mileage ever. I think the 5.7L Jeep Grand Cherokee is getting 10.3 average MPG city.

Ha...I think that was joking/sarcasm from Howareb, but apropos of this, Jr. and I were at a local car show over the weekend, with a large 60`s/70`s muscle car representation, and she commented about how many of them were orange, as I explained that it was a popular color for those cars...FWIW I like the burnt orange metallic better than the flat orange (I admired the 2003-ish Cadillacs that were that color...not sure if I would buy a car that color tho).

    Thanks for the help guys.

The Fiscal conservative in me keeps saying "what`s the point, soon your car will be paid off free and clear". Plus with the bankruptcy and all... I could probably get it even cheaper in a few months or something.

Best to just not think about it any more. Factoring in that it`s not CPO would mean that I`d spend another 2k on an extended warranty most likely, eliminating the "good deal" part of the equation. And raising the payments. And a car with MB parts that isnt under warranty doesnt seem like a good idea for me right now.

DONT DO IT....at the price you are getting SMOKED!!! The dealer will be laughing all the way to the bank hahahahahah....

I would never buy a chrysler product. They make the most eco dirtiest cars worst gas milage cars worst to maintain....overall worst cars on the road...thats documented...

Well I won`t be as radical as Perferd, but Chrysler isn`t a very attractive company to do any business with now I think. And taking a loan to buy a new car with just getting started at a new job isn`t very rational IMO. I would not take a loan to buy a car, I hate to be in debt, earn the money first, then buy what you want.
