the V1 is a great detector...but for a hundred less (new) the passport 8500 is a fine alternative. It actually beat the V1 in a few range tests by quite a bit on side by side hwy test.

My Passport is awesome. Of course I`d love to have the V1 with its arrows and what not.

    Good luck selling!

I sold mine a few months ago for ~185, hopefully you can get a little better than that.

The 8500 X50 is a very decent detector (I`ve owned one for quite some time) if laser is not a concern. The V1 has no competition in terms of laser detection. It`s far ahead of the others.

For laser protection NOTHING comes close to the Laser interceptor! Good stuff. Its funny to see LEO`s shaking the laser guns wondering whats wrong lol

I am a very happy customer with no monetary gains from this post :hifive:

I like my passport but had to turn off the laser detection because of frequent false alarms.

I have an Escort Solo 2 radar detector that has saved me a few times. For me, my radar detector is like an American Express card... "don`t leave home without it!" :grinno:

I`ve had a V1 for years, and I love it, but let`s be honest--the V1, like *any* radar detector, is useless when it comes to laser. If it detects it, it`s too late.

Actually, not necessarily true. I`ve gotten laser pops from the car in front of me several times. But if you`re alone you`re toast. I got hit this morning with laser on y way to do a detail. Fortunately, I was going 5 under...

Alright, fair enough. It`s *close* to useless I don`t think I`ve ever picked up any scatter with my V1. Then again, there`s not too much traffic where I live, so I`m usually not grouped up with other cars.

Interesting - what was causing the false alarms? I`ve always found the laser alerts to be the most accurate fro the Pasport
