... and look what I come home with. It MUST be mid-life crisis time...

engine is an all-aluminum windsor stroker, punched out to 427 cubes.

Puts out over 600 hp/tq at the crank... in a 2200 pound car. Yea, it`s insane...

A professor at my old school had one of those with a 302... he took it sideways out of the lot on a few occasions. I can only imagine what it would do with a 427

Was delivered Tuesday. I`ve yet to get it out of the driveway... just got insurance this evening & hope to get the registration done tomorrow. Yea, it`s a beast, all right. Has a fat, lumpy cam that`s WAY too aggressive for the street. Will probably tone it down a bit as my first mod. Doesn`t really like rpms below about 3000. Was way more than I really wanted engine-wise, but hey... go big or go home, eh? It`s definitely LOUD... the original owner was running straight-thru pipes with some vortec cones. Can only imagine what that sounded like. Second owner had some mufflers welded into the pipe. Is still REALLY loud, but hey... that`s part of the experience. Will be interesting to see how reliable it is. Has been a while since I`ve had a car that required regular and frequent maintenance. Is also the first carb`d car I`ve had in about 15 years, so will definitely be a new learning experience! It`s hittin the road tomorrow night tho, for sure!

Is this an original, or a Factory-5? reason I ask is becuase the 5s` are really track day cars, which could explain the aggressive cam.

    neither...

Factory Five`s are kits... which then have to be assembled by the owner (or other). They are sold in either street or competition versions. They are similar in the fact that the drivetrain choice is up to the individual owner. Nothing wrong with them... they`re great kits & every owner can customize to their hearts desire.

There are about two dozen (or so) Cobra kit/replica manufacturers all over the world. This one is done by Backdraft Racing (similar to Superformance). Factory built & sold as an assembled vehicle- a complete, painted rolling chassis minus engine & transmission. Suspension components are from BMW 3-series. Engine was custom built for original owner by Keith Craft Racing. Has not been extensively tracked to my knowledge.
