Yes, it has a soft start and you can select speeds between the 500 rpm settings on the dial!(I just ran it without a pad to test!)

Hey Greg, thanks so much for checking that out for me. For a cheaper rotary it sounds like not a bad unit. Thanks again for all of your feedback:up

Actually now that the Deerfoot connector is done I can be downtown in 2.5 hours or so. Hitting the southside in just under 2 hours, then fighting the traffic like everyone else. I left Calgary in 90` and have no desire to go back, just too big now. Was a really nice city when I was there before.
