    Paint Indentification:

How many people were aware that there are atleast 19 car manufactures that combined have 39 colors that are still being produced in single-stage. As Professional Detailers we should be able to indentify the type of paint we have on each vehicle prior to working on it. We can not just assume that everything is a two-stage.

Ther are 4 basic types of car finishes:

    • Single-stage
    • Two-stage (Most common)
    • Three or Tri-stage (Pearls)
    • Four-stage (Lamborghini / Nissan GTR)

One tip on the three-stage is that a lot of paint color names use the word “Pearl” in the name, which does not necessarily mean that it is a three-stage. With Paint Scratch.Com they will indicate Tricoat beside the color, which is a three-stage color.

My personal favorite website is PaintScratch.Com. This site is really easy to use. You only need to select the year, make, and model, then click on the “GO” button. See the example below.

David Fermani- Doesn`t it just figure, PaintScratch.com doesn`t list my Crown Vic`s "Vibrant White Clearcoat"

But yeah, their touchup paint usually matches pretty well and they`re they first people I check with too :xyxthumbs
