clear tails

alrite these are my stock taillights on my 97 nissan pathfinder LE:

these are not the ones im using now but i was wondering how easy would be to make them clear. is it a simple paint job or do i need lenses, i dont want it to look cheesy. any ideas?

So something like this doesn`t do it for you? If it looks like the housing is clear on your factory tails, then there may be colored refractors/diffusers inside that can be removed. I could`t say without seeing some in person though. Usually if you remove the colored pieces you`ll see the chrome reflectors through the clear housings. It usually doesn`t look too good. You can find the lights I pictured for about $100 shipped on ebay.

lol these are the ones i mentioned that i currently have. They look awesome in the pic and i really like them but they just look weird from the side when on the car. Maybe i could somehow replace that red round lens with a clear one...u think thats possible?

only reason im interested is because i kind of have the whole clear lights thing going with the clear corners and turn signals in the front. Just thought this would give it a cleaner look. But that light without the red would be insane. u can see them on my car, links here:
