My 4th of July Weekend has now opened up so I am thinking about spending some time on my 2000 Eclipse. A few weeks ago a car brushed up against me and left some scuff marks I would like to touch up after my wash, body solvent and decon.` I won`t have time to order touch up paint over the internet so I would like to get something overt he counter.` Are there any brands you can think of which you would recommend and can find over the counter?` Matching to my car`s paint may be the most difficult not buying online, thank you.

There is a Mirror Glaze dealer in Louisville which has a pretty large selection of touch up paint, I may give them a try if no one posts of a good brand to find.

i think pretty much all the touch up sticks are of the same quality. Go wherever it is most convenient for you.`

The paint you`d get from a dealership is typically supplied by DupliColor, and most auto parts stores carry the DupliColor brand as well.

I have 2 bottles of old touch-up paint that have congealed, and are no longer usable.` The car I want to sell has large areas where the paint has peeled off.` I was hoping to be able to thin the touch-up paint, put it into an aerosol spray bottle, and cover the worst spots so they`re not so glaringly bad.` Is this possible?` What do I use for thinner?` Thanks!

See if you can find the MSDS. Most use acetone for the solvent. If it has solidified it might be a lost cause.

If it`s Dupli-Color (or made by them), it will be lacquer paint... lacquer thinner should re-liquify the paint, just be careful not to add a bunch at a time and get it too thin.

You can get a cheap airbrush from Harbor Freight, or use something like a Preval aerosol sprayer, though I don`t care for the spray pattern of the Preval for touch-up work.
