Stripping down old Astro work van and eventual repaint for a friend.

The old van has a lot of miles left in it, a buddy needs it for his business.

It is typical of all GM, Ford`s, Chrysler`s, Toyota`s of the era.

No surface primers were put over the ecoat, not enough clearcoat film build, so most blue, grey and white models have either peeled by now or in the process.

All you can do it take them down to bare metal where you can, apply an acid etch/sealer primer and then a surface primer, start blocking, etc.

Three rust area`s to be fixed, but since the van is so old, etc, not going to do it correctly, in other words, not putting in new metal, but what I will do should last 5 years at least and by then the mechanicals will be toast and off to the crusher.

Will attempt to put up some photos as it progresses.

Charlie, you nailed it, Explorer conversion, 94 model.

Going to cheat a bit, use a farm implement 1k enamel, will have to tone the standard blue with some black, but will be close enough. No way am I going to paint jams, just get close.

That`s all that Brooks wants.

The wheels, I will silca blast and paint the outer part of the rim a bright safety yellow with dark blue centers, no sense in trying to polish them, and over the hood and down the length of the sides a 7 inch yellow strip for his company graphics.
