My car is relatively new, August 2009 purchase - Honda Civic.

I have a small spec of rust by the rear door frame, just outside the seal of the door.

I talked to the dealership and they said it would be covered by the Honda warranty and I could take it in to be painted.

I also have paint peeling on the inside area of the rear bumper, something I noticed while washing my rear right tire one day.

Again, he said it`d be covered no problem.

    My question is this...

I can take my car in this week or and let them paint it and fix it all up, along with all the chips on the hood.

But winter is coming up and my thinking is to let winter pass (snow, salt, cold weather, etc, etc) and do all this in the spring.

My reasoning is to not have the paint job get abused so soon after getting it done.

I know they bake the paint in the shop and all that, but just thought a relatively new paint job could be saved from some winter abuse for a few months.

Or should I just go in and get it done this week because it doesn`t really matter?

    Thanks in advance.

Rust never sleeps. I`d get it repaired ASAP.

I agree, get the work done before the calcium and mag clorides are spread on the roads.

kuba- If you do it right away, the paint will be cured by the time winter gets going. I wouldn`t delay.

But I`d sure do what you can to ensure that the dealer does the work properly and doesn`t mess up anything else in the process :nervous:

Thanks for the replies, you`re all right.

Accumulator, the dealership is owned by 3 brothers who own a very reputable collision auto body shop.

It`s so clean you can eat off the floor of the shop, let alone the main offices.

I`m confident they`ll do a good job, they have quite the reputation...but now you got me hoping they do. lol

No matter how good the shop`s reputation, or how great the facility, I`d still be wary...and that`s based on 30-some years of experience dealing with bodyshops

Not saying you need to be paranoid about it or anything...just be careful. At the very least, I`d be asking how they plan to do all the work just to make sure they`re not used to cutting corners for, uhm..... less discerning customers.
