Taillight film?

I`m thinking of putting some light tinted film on my taillights, similar to this.

I`m wondering if I ever remove it becuase I get tired of it, will it leave a real messy residue that would be hard to remove? Has anyone tried this stuff and remove it before? I`d hate to end up potentially causing damage to the light by having to use something strong to remove the residue.
