Installed some fiberglass eyelids last night. Contour`s headlights are notorious for turning yellow and hazy, especially near the top, which these help to cover.

I think the Duplicolor matched pretty darn good. My fingers are tired from all the sanding and polishing, but the finish matches the rest of the paint, both in color and texture.

    Painting and prep process:

    - wipe down with isopropyl alcohol

    - spray with light gray primer

    - spray 4 light color coats with Duplicolor rattle can, 1 min between each coat

    - spray 4 light clear coats with Duplicolor rattle can, 1 min between each coat

    - 48 hours drying time

    - wetsand with 2000 grit, then 2500 grit

    - hand polish with 3M Fine Cut Compound

    - hand polish with Optimum Polish

    Look Ma, no orange peel!

Looks great, love the Red! I wouldn`t trade my Mustang for another one but I do miss my Contour. I had a 98.5 SE Sport and it was a blast to drive, not quite as much fun as the SVT probably is but still a blast...

Great job. I`ve never been a fan of eyelids on most rides, but those don`t look too bad.

Thanks for the process steps. Interesting --- only waiting 1 min between each light coat? I always thought to let each coat dry completely -- or per instructions on can?

IRCC, it was pics of your Laser Red Stang that inspired me to try the Klasse twins on my Contour. I`m a long-time CEG member, I think I remember you over there too.

I`m with you, less is usually more, but in this case, the headlight housing is HUGE, so covering up a little bit of it works. It was just Duplicolor rattle-can and the directions said to let each coat get "tacky" before applying the next. It was 70* and dry in GA when I did this, so 1 min was enough for it to get tacky. It even said you can apply clear after an hour of finishing the color, but I waited until the next day.

Yup I was a member over at CEG, hung around for a while even after I traded the Contour for the Mustang. Every now and then I still go over there and check out what is going on...
