I got an estimate for my 2002 Acura tl

To have the hood and bumper replaced and painted the estimate was $2300.

To have just the hood replaced and painted would be $1400.

The place is suppose to be very good, what do you think of those prices?

    Thanks

First of all, what the story behind you needing to replace a 2002 acura TL hood?

If it was in a accident - INSURANCE?

If not you may want to do some more homework online. Like an Acura replacement website that sells unpainted car parts...then goto the paint store for the quote? Where are you located? If you were in socal i might be able to pull some strings but if not....one thing you might want to try is just bring the replacement parts into the paint shop and not the whole car and "re-install" the parts yourself.

    Just a thought.

I rear ended a honda CRV that had a tire on the back my hood slid under that tire and messed up the left corner of the hood, and the bumper has a 2 inch diameter hole in it not sure how that happened but its there.

Anyway there is no other damage under the hood everything looks good and the car drives great.

I do not want to go through insurance since there was no damage on the honda crv trying to avoid my insurance from going up.

I live in North Jersey by the way.

    Thanks

So you need no trim pieces, go lighting, lenses, emblems, bumper supports, foam insert?

Is the color metallic? Do the tops of the fenders need to be blended?

A OEM hood should run you no more than $500 from honda and another $300 to paint and install. Add an OEM bumper cover for $500 and another $300 to paint and install. $1,600 is more than fair if thats all that is required. I do however think the tops of your fenders should be blended.

I didnt read that you stated it was a high end shop. Lets go generous and offer $400 per panel and stay at $300 for the bumper cover.

If the damage is as isolated as you say, they can order the 2 parts, prep and paint them, then call you in for the installaltion. But if the fenders need blending, you are in a different ballgame.

Read your estimate? Is the shop charging you or listing that they will paint the fenders also?

I dont know if I would paint a non-solid color replacement hood and not add a little color to the tops of the fenders. The paint on your car is approaching 6 years old.
