One of my customers was in need of Methanol for his water injection system on his airplane. So he bought 55 gallons of it and only used like 10. So I have 45 Gallons of Pure Methanol to play with. My car has a 20 gallon fuel tank. I put 19 gal of 93 Octane and 1 gallon of Methanol. That makes a 5% mixture. The engine on my car has a known problem of running WAAAAAAYYY too rich above 5,000 RPM`s. Alcohol requires about 40-50% more volume to run normal. So the end result is that the car runs leaner even though it`s using the same volume of fuel. I get slightly less MPG per tank, but 93 octane turns into Approximately 97 Octane. Maybe I did my math wrong, but thats what I figured. Anyone else try it?
