Not sure if this is the right place for this question:

The paint on my rear bumper(Acura Integra) is scuffed and cracked all over. My autobody guy (who does great work)gave me a quote for $450 to recon this bumper or $100 to paint a new bumper cover(which comes out to the same price as the recon). He said that all of the cracks in the existing paint (bumper is not cracked, just the paint)is the reason why the price is higher than just painting a new bumper.

What kind of steps is he talking about? Don`t you just strip the paint off and repaint or are there hours of sanding involved? Just wondering if I can do some of the work first and just have him paint it.

OR

Try repainting it myself with spray cans from Paintscratch. Anyone try this themselves?

Thanks
