Well...I have had the same top end package in the old gal since April 2001. In the time that has passed since then LS1 camshafts, cylinder heads and pretty much everything else has improved. So alas I have broken down and am giving Lola a heart transplant. She`s at the shop now getting a new bumpstick, new cylinder heads and a new exhaust system from the heads back.

Hopefully I`ll see some gains....finger`s crossed!!!

I`m sure most of you have not seen a 4th gen f-bod with its guts out...so here you go....

The new cam is in at this point and the front end of the motor has been reassembled.

    Steve02SLT No...eventually I will put a 427 in this car.

Zane my mechanic knows me and how I am with that car...I trust him completely. Besides...the car doesn`t dyno as well with the Mickey`s out back for some reason.

Wade...she`ll be wide band O2 tuned on a Dynojet.

    No secrets here....

Patriot LS6 style heads with 59CC chambers fitted with 2.055`s and 1.57`s. Comp 918`s with Ti retainers.

    Custom ground cam of 232/236 592/592 on a 112.

Dynatech headers and y-pipe and a Borla non-adjustable out back.

Should be good for ~425+ rwhp with a nice TQ curve to go with it.

You cleaned the trans tunnel before the pic, right? Sounds like a strong combo.

Ouch!!! That`s hardcore. You`re not afraid that they will touch that pretty paint???? All in the name for speed!! Believe it or not I have heard of patriot`s products. This should be a good upgrade. Who made the cam or is that classified????

Oh boy....now I`m getting itchy.....nah gotta hold out a little longer...its hard though...

Good luck with the work......let us know the specs afterwards!

Awesome pics, Mike! I assume the cam`s duration is a .050 lift, right? Should idle pretty well/decent vacuum on a 112 degree centerline too. My Chevelle`s last cam was a Comp Cams 292 Magnum...244 at .050 lift, .501 lift and 106 degree centerline. Incredibly lopey, 10" vacuum at 900 rpm. Had to drill holes in the primary plates of my Holley 4778 because even with an 1100 rpm idle, it`d drop to 600 rpm and be on verge of stalling without the holes! Once I drilled them out, 850 rpm idle in gear. 7 mpg city, 9 on the freeway though.

I bet your combo will be a lot more streetable. Amazing what computer tuning, roller cams, new head designs, etc have done for hotrodding. Hope you run it at the strip once in a while.

Looks awesome Mike. Your attention to detail on the undercarriage is impressive. I can`t wait to see how it turns out.. :xyxthumbs

Wow! Mike your car looks a little different in that state. I thought you would take pictures of Lola’s surgery. The whole underside is ridiculously clean. I can’t wait to hear it! :chuckle:

Sweet man that undercarrige is in better shape then my paint . Why remove the chassis for a h/i install?? Was this done to not damage the paint or just the easiest way for 4th gen f-bod`s? Again post up the finished product I`d love to see that animal done....
