    gelcoat side by side test

[edit - this test has been totally revised - skip to page 2]

OK I was interested in what would last longer - a general wax or a polymer sealant so I corrected my dock box which was heavily oxidized.

On the entire top I used my Flex 3403 w/ big wool pad and 3M super duty rubbing compound. Then the GG 6" with blue pad and Ultimate Compound. The result was mirror like reflection. I divided the box into two sections:

    On the left side:
    Ultima Paint prep
    2 Coat UPGP

    On the right:
    Duragloss bonding agent
    Pinnicle Souvaran

This is out in the sun 24/7 here in Florida so we`ll see how they do...

That was my conclusion also. The Souveran is a beauty wax and will be gone in a month of sitting outside in the sun.

Yes I think that would be a much better choice than the Souveran or you could even use DG 501.

The 501 will be an excellent choice as it`s actually made for boats so it should hold up pretty good. I`m thinking it will prevail.

Nice test. Didn`t your 3403 with a 7" or bigger wool pad heat up?

Good choice, I didn`t expect the Souveran to last long. I will keep an eye out for your update.

Re: gelcoat side by side test

actually I dug thru my detailing closet and came up with a much more valid test:

    divided into thirds:
    left:
    ultima prep and paint guard

    middle:
    duragloss bonding agent and 501

    right:
    duragloss bonding agent and rejex

I`ll set it up this aft...

I`m really interested in how the Rejex does. It`s supposed to be the same basic formula as Nu Finish which as we know is 5.00 at Walgreens.
