Re: gelcoat side by side test

    OK done:

I used separate applicators for everything and sep MF`s to buff off the 501 and RejeX. I purposefully did only one coat of all three rather than layer it. Upon completion, they all three have the same gloss and depth starting out.

Interesting story about Rejex - I met the inventor (Ed) at a boat show a few years ago. He did not have much to add, except you could apply it in sun, it did layer ok but the big news was he said nu-finish is almost the same formula and works virtually identical to Rejex. He obviously had some connection to nu-finish but would not say how. I have done this NF vs Rej test on this dock box 2 years ago and they wore out identical to each other. It was as if I had used one or the other on the whole top....

Interesting it may have been one of your earlier posts where I read that. It was concerning using Rejex on wheels if I remember right.

15 days in.....so far, virtually no difference at all - same water bead, same gloss:

Re: gelcoat side by side test

about a month in and no diff in gloss or beading ability. It really looks the same all across the panel. I think this shows that all these products do the job with your choice being which one you like. The Ultima has no buff off vs the others but is 25% more expensive. The middle section of DG bonding agent and DG 501 is the most economical, by a wide margin, and doing the job quite nicely...

Thank you for the update. I`m hoping the Rejex wins because that is the only one you listed that I have, and I`ve been using it for over five years on cars. Works great with getting love bugs off the front of a car.

Well here`s the update after 60 days - virtually no change in any of them...telling me it comes down to the cost...Winner Durgloss..or maybe nu-finish (same as Rejex)

All 3 are still looking good Glen. You could always do the 52 machine car wash test to be sure the water still beads Sort of a Myth Busters test
