    Harley Detailing

I`ve been working at this local shop as some of you know, working on a lift is the only ay to clean these machines. I have three more to go and from what I can see he is lining them up for me left and right.

    This was yesterday job.

I wash the bikes in the back lot then he puts them up on the rack, then with a scissor lift he can get one wheel at a time off the lift so I can spin it. totally cool way to work the rims

Once the bike is clean, I have been using PB PP for polish and on some area Simmchrome (sp) for the paint its all done by hand. SSR1 then PB BH, EX-P and finish with Nattys blue liquid.

The chrome I use Nattys wheel sealant and for the rest of the matted finish I have been using Stoner trim Shine and Harley Pig Spit, its the same as trim shine

The seats and bags are all cleaned and conditioned with Leatheriqe

    Re: Harley Detailing

This was the job from last Friday, this bike was ridden from CA to North Dakota and back. I think that he hit every bug on the road. He developed and lifter problem on the way back and oil was all over the bottom coupled with road grim.

I got the bike back to speed in 5 hours

Sorry about the after pics, the shop owner leaves them on the lift until the next day

Yup, very nice. Looks like a fun change of pace. Working on a lift is a great way to detail. Way back in the day when I turned wrenches I would go in to work early in the morning an put my vehicle on the lift and detail prior to the shop opening up. It made many mundane tasks easier.

What products & process did you use on the paint? Harley`s Vivid Black is the softest, most miserable CC to try and finish, IME. Seems like you leave marring wiping off polish residue with a soft, plush MF.

I`m using PB SSR1, BH and EX-P...and by hand. I haven`t found the finishes that hard to work with

I find that vivid black swirls if you look at it sideways. Must be very careful and use the softest towels you have.

    Beemerboy,

Are you a Beemer rider by chance? Do you ever detail BMW`s? I just did a top-to-bottom annual on my 2006 R1200RT (sorry, no pics) and it was a great learning experience, especially with the latest and greatest products. Sorry for the hijack!
