    Chrome polishing anyone?

I`ve got a couple pieces of chrome on my bike that look a little hazed up with some scratches. What is a good product I can use to polish scratches out of chrome? I`ve got a couple scuffs on my pipes that I`d like to polish out too. It hasn`t ever been laid down, so I`m not really sure where these scuffs came from. All of the hazing is pretty minor. More like swirls than anything else. It is really only on the brackets for my windshield that I`m concerned about and those pieces don`t get looked at very closely anyway.

Use a non-abrasive polish, even your favorite AIO and a cotton towel when the bike is warm. Scratches usually don`t come out of chrome since it`s only a thin plating, but sometimes the hazing will improve
life is short ..do it while you can

Chrome plating is extremely hard and because of that hardness, flaws are not easily removed.
The only bike I have ever had a chrome problem with had been in storage for 6 years before I bought it.
I had good luck with Mother`s chrome polish, but I think any brand would have been just as good.
First cleanup was with a terry towel and the polish to see what I needed to really work on. Next step was 0000 steel wool with the polish. That took care of any rust or other residue, but doesn`t do much if anything for scuffs. The 0000 steel wool doesn`t scratch when used correctly. Don`t use a lot of pressure and just let the polish and the steel wool do the work.
I have also heard of rubbing aluminum foil over tarnished areas of chrome to improve the appearance. Never tried it.
If the scuffs/scratches are actually in the chrome, you may have to live with them.

Hmmmm... thanks for that advice. I`ll have to see what I can accomplish. Fortunatly the hazing isn`t bad and it really isn`t noticable unless you are obsessing over it. I`m told that I do that from time to time.

    Re: Chrome polishing anyone?

I have had a # of bikes that were second hand and still have some chrome defects. I removed a lot of crud with Mac`s chrome polish ( brand not too relevant) and since take off the entire exhaust and polish it once every 12 - 18 months. Still running strong. I gues `til we become stinking rich we`ll have to deal with it. And even then we`ll be able to afford to deal with it ?

Flitz polish with 0000 wool wrapped around one of those "power balls" to provide cushion. Works for me!

    Yes it is!!

With a Powerball and 0000 wool, it`s a winner for resolving chrome in need of some work.

Otherwise, just with a Powerball and Flitz can work wonders on exhaust pipes outside and in.
